Purpose of Position/Summary:
The Speech and Language Pathologist assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the
personal, social, and intellectual development of students.
Role Expectations (How we measure success):Assist in early recognition and prevention of educational problems
Conduct assessments and evaluations to diagnose speech, language, and communication disorders
in students
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to meet the unique needs of each
student
Provide direct therapy to students, both individually and in small groups
Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create and implement strategies to
support student progress
Participate as a team member in the comprehensive evaluation, review, and reevaluation process
Participate in the development of student IEPs
Adhere to required program guidelines as define by the state of Indiana for Special Education
Maintain accurate and confidential records
Motivate students through effective communication and feedback
Essential Responsibilities/Activities:Assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual
development of students
Establishes a positive learning environment and respond o the individual needs of students
Builds effective relationships with teachers, students, and staff
Engages in school positive behavior incentive system (PBIS), discipline matrix, and restorative
practices
Exhibits professional habits including: attire, timeliness, attendance, communication
Is involved in school community through participation in clubs, sports, tutoring, and other
activities
Strives to work and live by The Irvington Way
Skills and Qualifications:Masters Degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing
Valid Indiana Teaching License as a Speech Pathologist
Certificate of Clinical Competence
Minimum of five years of school experience preferred
Strong technology skills, competent in the use of Google applications
Flexible mindset with the willingness to adapt quickly to change
Willingness to follow classroom discipline policies and procedures
